Sprea is a little village in the North of Verona, 900 m height above sea level, in the middle of Nature and pure air.

WHY SHOULD I VISIT SPREA?

The visit to Sprea is a perfect day trip. You can go out for a walk in the Botanical and Vegetable Garden (the visit to the garden takes 1 or 2 hours). You can also have a longer walk in one of the marked paths in the woods. Then you can have a little break at the "Sala delle Erbe" bar or you can have a complete meal at Erbecedario restaurant (Macrobiotic, Vegetarian, Vegan and Traditional food). You can stop and buy herbal products (craft production) and typical food (for istance: traditional Salami, Cheeses, Organic Honey, Pasta and the one and only "Amaro di Sprea" - a special officinal herbs bitter) at Erbecedario Shops.
After visiting Sprea you can move towards Bolca and visit one of the greatest fossil museum. You'll see the strangest creatures which lived in the deep oceans millions of years ago, when these mountains were once submerged by seawater. (More info at the museum website)

Don Zocca, "El Prete da Sprea"
Sprea is a famous location thanks to Don Luigi Zocca, "El prete da Sprea" - The Priest from Sprea (1854-1954), who became popular because he medicated with officinal herbs and other natural remedies patients from all over the region. Moreover, Don Zocca taught to the locals how to recognize the different officinal herbs and how to use them. Nowadays people from Sprea still know officinal herbs and the different uses - inheritance of Don Zocca's teachings.

The "Prodotto Tipico" Shop in Sprea selects and collects the best among the food of Eastern Lessinia (The natural Park in the north of Verona) caring relationships with the local producers.
You can find all traditional Salami, Cheeses, Organic Honey, Pasta and the one and only "Amaro di Sprea" - a special officinal herbs bitter.
Ristorante Erbecedario is well-known for his particular care for ingredients. Chef Cosimo serves vegetarian and vegan dishes, but also traditional Italian foods (Pasta and confectionery are his speciality).
